The Owner
Phillip Craig is the founder and owner of Drum Nation Drum School. Mr. Craig's musical background includes being the Section Leader for Central High School Drumline, as well as Paul Bryant High School drumlines (Tuscaloosa, Alabama). From 2004-2008 he attended the University of Alabama where he majored in Health Care management and was a featured percussionist for the University's Jazz ensemble.
What Phillip is most known for is his passion and love for the drums. His love for drums started at the age of 2 from growing up and playing drums in his grandparent's church (Faith Refuge Apostolic Church. Phillip presently is the percussionist for Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, AL.
In 2011 his passion for playing drums would shift to teaching and ultimately lead to the start of Drum Nation Drum School. Through the Drum Nation program, Phillip has been able to sow back the same seeds into youth in the community that God has sow into him. Over the past 12 years Drum Nation has trained hundreds of students in all areas of percussion with many of those students going on to receive percussion scholarships to their respective Colleges. Today you can find the Drum Nation program housed in many of the schools in the Tuscaloosa area as well as the Award winning Drum Nation Drumline performing all over the South East. Even with all of this the greatest aspect of Drum Nation will always be the relationships that are fostered between the students that last a lifetime. Making an impact on the community has and will always be the driving force in Phillip Craig's life
The Vision
Drum Nation Drum School is a percussion performing arts program that specializes in training students in all aspects of drumming all in a fun and innovative environment. The primary goal of Drum Nation has always been to give students the tools needed to obtain college scholarships in percussion. Since starting in 2010 hundred of students have benefited from the specialized training that they have received with many of them going on to secure college scholarships in percussion. Not only does Drum Nation offer exciting in class training but an award winning Drumline that competes all over the Southeast!! In addition, the program itself has been implemented in over 10 schools throughout central Alabama. But what maybe the best aspect of Drum Nation though has come in the form of the relationships built by students not only with the instructors but with each other as well. There is a constant strive to make sure every student that joins is made to feel like family. Come be apart of the DN family!
The Goal
Our primary objective is to equip all students with the necessary resources to secure College percussion scholarships. By fostering their musical development, we aim to assist students in cultivating confidence and establishing their identities through music.
